Introduction
In 1851, under the title “Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations”, the first World Expo was held in The Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, London. The Great Exhibition, as it is often referred, is perceived as the precursor for the many international exhibitions, today called World Expos.
A world Expo, known as Exposition universelle in French, is a large international exhibition organized to showcase the biggest innovations of our time and the achievements of great minds under the wing/flag of their country. The World Expo is organised every 2 to 5 years and would be held for 3 to 6 months. Each edition is hosted by a different country.
From 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, Dubai, the most popular city of the United Arab Emirates, will host the World Expo 2020.
First Edition of the World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia region (MENASA), Dubai Expo 2020, postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is expected to be one of the most important in World Exposition history
This year’s edition theme is “Connecting Minds Creating the Future” and will be divided into 3 sub-themes: “Opportunity”, “Mobility”, and “Sustainability”. Dubai Expo 2020 will provide a platform to 192 countries, including Malaysia, to showcase their latest technology.
Malaysia participation in Dubai Expo
For their last editions, Sustainability has been the main theme of the World Expo, like in 1998 in Portugal: The Oceans: A Heritage for the Future or in 2010 in China: Water and Sustainable development and for the 2015 Expo in Italy: Feeding the planet, Energy for life, to name just a few.
The focus of the World Expo these last 2 decades has been to bring awareness on sustainability and to present technology helping us to tackle the effect of global warming and to better manage our natural resources.
Recognizing the importance of green technologies to achieve progress and in line with the aspirations of the National Green Technology Policy 2009, Malaysia’s choice of theme around sustainability development for the Dubai Expo 2020 is not surprising. The Malaysian government has chosen the theme “Energising Sustainability” to translate the nation’s commitment and approaches to sustainable development.
Appsaya Business Matching solutions to be used by Malaysia Pavilion
MGTC needed a reliable and innovative company specialized and experienced in business matching and providing a solution for access facilitation and time management.
The objective is to create a platform that helps connect and enable pre-scheduling appointments between all stakeholders that will be in Dubai Expo; exhibitors, visitors, buyers, government bodies, delegates, speakers and allow them to identify and obtain business leads that the Dubai Expo 2020 can offer.
This event is a global platform to attract trade and investment opportunities.
Appsaya has been chosen by MGTC to be the technology company to provide a Business Matching platform to facilitate connections and energise business among attendees of the Dubai Expo 2020.
Exhibitors benefit from a comprehensive profile page where they can gain visibility by showcasing their products and services, upload Marketing brochures and links to their Websites. This space helps them to be easily found and be contacted by visitors of the Expo.
With this, Appsaya allows the buyers to find the right providers for the products and services they have an interest or need for.
Once potential buyers or visitors have identified the organizations or people they want to do business with, the Appointment scheduling feature allows them to schedule a 1-to-1 meeting ahead of the event and meet in person at the Dubai Expo 2020.
Appsaya platform also included an Auto Recommendation feature that sends suggestion emails to visitors to meet potential exhibitors throughout the Dubai Expo based on their selected business week of interest. Exhibitors visibility increases in this process.
The automated process that Appsaya provides through this platform is the cornerstone in optimizing time and helps in making meaningful meetings happen to accelerate deal closure.
Digitalisation enables effectiveness and the analytics feature given by the platform allows clients to have a strategic understanding of the outcome and impact of the meeting during the event, in order to have measurable data for future events.
